United Airlines 777-200ER Polaris Business Class Review | San Francisco to Newark (2026)

I recently had the opportunity to fly on United Airlines' Polaris Business Class on a transcontinental route from San Francisco to Newark. While the flight was mostly pleasant, there were a few notable aspects that stood out to me. Firstly, the lack of functional Wi-Fi was a significant disappointment, especially since it was the heart of my workday. This is a recurring issue with United's Panasonic Wi-Fi system, which has left me frustrated on previous flights. Despite this, the flight crew was friendly and attentive, offering a second meal before landing when many passengers declined the pre-arrival service. The food was hearty and respectable, with a pre-arrival meal that ran circles around what American and Delta offer. The Polaris Business Class cabin features lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, providing direct aisle access for every passenger. While I prefer a window seat for privacy, the seat itself was comfortable and functional. The amenity kit was standard, with earplugs, an eye mask, and a few small Perricone MD products. Overall, while the Wi-Fi issue was a dealbreaker for me, the flight was comfortable and the food was impressive. United has made significant improvements in its catering and amenities, which is a welcome change. However, the lack of Wi-Fi remains a persistent problem that needs to be addressed. Personally, I think that United should prioritize fixing the Wi-Fi issue to enhance the overall customer experience. In my opinion, the Polaris Lounge and the pre-arrival meal are excellent additions to the premium transcontinental experience, but the Wi-Fi is a critical component that needs to be reliable. If you're considering flying Polaris Business Class, I would recommend choosing an odd-numbered window seat for the most privacy and space. Additionally, I would encourage United to continue investing in its catering and amenities, while also addressing the Wi-Fi issue to ensure a seamless and enjoyable flight experience.
